Forthcoming October 2020: Count Four, winner of the Tampa Review Prize for Poetry, is a book about trying to reconcile the conflicting elements of one’s identity and attempting to understand and articulate the forces that are shaping it. Many of the poems in the collection were written over years the poet spent as a musician in and around the East Coast punk scene. The poet tries to make sense of how the things and people he loves most in this environment are also the very things most likely to destroy him.
Keith Kopka is a former touring punk musician whose poetry and criticism have appeared in Best New Poets, Mid-American Review, New Ohio Review, Tampa Review, and The International Journal of The Book. He is also the author of the critical text Asking a Shadow to Dance: An Introduction to the Practice of Poetry and is a professor at Holy Family University in Philadelphia.
