The University of Tampa Press Announces Pomme: A Novella Series

Pomme is currently closed to submissions.

The University of Tampa Press is committed to offering publication opportunities for genres and modes of writing that have been overlooked in traditional publishing. Many university presses have imprints and series dedicated to publishing long-form works of fiction and nonfiction, as well as collections of poetry, but the novella continues to be passed over as a form on its own, often being attached to short-story collections. Our new series, Pomme, seeks to fill that void in the literary landscape.

The University of Tampa Press, with its strengths in the study of history, drama, and literature, seeks submissions of previously unpublished novellas for standalone publication. We are interested in submissions of all kinds, including the fantastic, the speculative, as well as so-called literary fiction. As an organization led by women, we are also particularly interested in work from traditionally disenfranchised voices. Submissions should follow these guidelines:

  1. Manuscripts must be between 15,000 and 40,000 words in length
  2. Only full manuscripts will be reviewed
  3. Entries must be double-spaced and in 12 pt. font, and they must include page numbers
  4. Excerpts may have been published individually in magazines or anthologies, but the work as a whole must be unpublished
  5. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable. Please notify The University of Tampa Press immediately by withdrawing the manuscript via email if the manuscript is accepted elsewhere
  6. Include a cover letter that mentions where excerpts have been published, when appropriate
  7. Do not include an acknowledgements page

Please send all submissions and/or submission inquiries to utpress@ut.edu. We will contact you with a decision within approximately 8-16 weeks of your submission.

Pomme is closed to submissions until January 2024. Any novella manuscripts sent after September 1, 2023 will not be considered.
